She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Edna Smithley (Heintz) and Norman Smithley; her husband William Bruce Penfold; her son Michael; her brother John; and her children, William Bruce Jr. (Laura), Bonita (Nick Page), Gerald (Debbie), Mary Laufer (Mark), Teresa Huston (Rob), Christine Clarke (David) and Barbara Ferry (Michael). She was also cherished by 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception School or Hospice Buffalo.
