He was predeceased by: his sibling Merritt Sleeper Jr.; and his parents, Francis Sleeper and Merritt Sleeper. He is survived by: his siblings, Phillis Sleeper Heinrich Jones and Julia Sleeper Burns; his wife Glenda; his sons, Mark Sleeper (Debbie) and Robert Sleeper (Sally); and his grandchildren, Cynthia Loveland (Brian), Nichole Fischer (Charles), Alexa Sleeper (Alex Wylie) and Jon Sleeper (Emily Morrison).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a fund started to help alleviate expenses for Robert Sleeper's liver transplant.
