He was predeceased by: his son James R. Kemp Jr. Jim; and his grandson Charles James. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Kemp (Anne Davis); his children, Jeana Enochson (Brian) and Jody Patrick Kemp; and his grandchildren, Cody, Jordyn, Elijah and Jessie Boone.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in Jim's memory, a cause close to his heart.
