He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Adams and Robert Pitkin McDowell; and his brothers, Robert Adams and Willard Boyd. He is survived by: his children, Carol McDowell Shaheen (Joseph John) of New York, NY, Avalon, NJ and John Adams McDowell, Jr. of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.
