She was predeceased by: her parents, George E. Murphy Jr. and Donna L. Murphy; and her sister Heather A. Murphy. She is survived by: her daughters, Rebecca Eastwood of North Carolina and Sarah Eastwood (Daniel Eastwood) of New York; and her siblings, Joyce Long of New York, Melanie Taylor of California and Brian Somers of Florida. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Elaine's final act of selflessness was donating her brain to further research efforts aimed at finding a treatment and cure for the disease.
