He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Roberta; his children, Andy (Ellen) and Rachel (Eric); his stepchildren, Philip Karmel (Barbara), Solomon Karmel (Martine), Jonathan Karmel and Miriam Emery (Dan); and his grandchildren, Jillian, Jacob, Anna, Juliette, Paul, Elijah, Neoma, Aviv, Owen and Ben.
