He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Backus and Mabel Backus (Tracy); his wife Gloria Melbouf; his daughter Corrine Backus; and his siblings, Donald, Russell Backus and Betty Benway.
He is survived by: his son Lonnie Backus of Dexter, NY; and his close friend Joanne Hinds of Dexter, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
