He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross J. Sykes and Katheryn Myers Sykes; his wife Alice Eleanor Lee; his siblings, Joan Conger, Barbara Humiston, Sharon Sykes, Stanley Sykes and Grant Sykes; and his granddaughter Joanne "Gert" Thornton.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Sykes (Dolly), Dan Sykes (Virginia), Ed Sykes (Marie) and Lisa Holladay (Jay); his grandchildren, Jonathan Sykes (Becky), Matthew Sykes, Sarah Helton (Jeremy), DJ Sykes (Meghan), Ryan Sykes (Jerusha), Jessie Sykes, Kelsey Barron (Matt), Cody Sykes (Abby) and Kevin Hall; and his siblings, Shirley Marriott, Betty Beutel and Charles Sykes. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.
