He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth C. Hinkle and Evaline E. Hinkle (Garner); and his former wife Florence Hinkle (States). He is survived by: his children, Harry, Robin, Donna, Linda, Rita and Evaline Hinkle; and his siblings, George, Wayne, Kathleen, Betty Mae and Janet.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James's name to any Rescue Dog Charity of one's choice.
