He was predeceased by: his sister Toni Nowakowski. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley; his children, John (Pam) and Denise Scheifla (Albert); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Dylan, Savanna and Sienna; and his siblings, Michael (Donna), Nancy Fiorella (Charles), Edward (Carol) and Martha Temkin (late Ken). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation.
