He was predeceased by: his daughter Mary Kay; and his brothers, Robert (JoAnn) and Paul (late Barbara). He is survived by: his wife Barbara Marie (Penny); his children, Michael Merges (Laurie) of Rensselaer, N. Y., Eileen Merges (Nathan Napper) of Edgewater, MD., David Merges (Julie) of Farmington, NY and Elizabeth Carlin (Chris) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.; his grandchildren, Nicole Merges (Andy Tegas), Alexandra Krein (Michael), Quinn, Peter (Nea), William (Grace), Henry Merges (Ethan), Kayla Kern (Nicholas), Joshua, Jonathan (Hannah), Catherine, Abby and Lilly Carlin; and his brothers, Bruce (Barbara) and Frank Merges (Renee). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
