He was predeceased by: his parents, Leaton Edward and Myrtle E. Allen Sumner. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia J. Putnam Sumner; his children, Monique Krutz (late Eric), Eric Sumner (Sandy), Samuel Lee Sumner, Jr. (Kimberly) and Christopher Sumner; his stepdaughter Michelle Becker; his grandchildren, Matthew Krutz (Misty), Casey Sumner (Emily Noel), Marc Krutz and Cody Sumner (Emily Rose); his great grandchildren, Trystan Killian Sumner, Jason Ryan Sumner and Brooke Elliana Sumner; his siblings, Martha Elizabeth "Liz" Cadette (late Donald), Floyd Sumner (Joy), Lois Abbott (Rodney), Leaton Jr., Linda Wade (George), Kathleen McKinnon (Floyd), Mary Jean Connell, Alrick Sumner, Susan Kemp and Viola Pierchorowicz; and his aunt Mae Lewis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
