He was predeceased by: his brothers, Gerald Thornton and Michael Thornton; and his parents, Gerald Thornton and Leota Hazelton Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Karen Thornton; his children, Richard Thornton, Bradley (Kristy Thornton) of Canton, Gina Dafoe of Chesapeake, Virginia and Brandi (Chris Harris) of DeKalb; and his siblings, Floyd (Ann Thornton) of Edwards and Debbie (Gerald Phillips) of Fowler. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hermon Rescue Squad or the Canton Rescue Squad.
