He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Burkhardt and Catherine Burkhardt (Uebelhoer); his children, Ann Marie and Frank Paul Burkhardt; his grandson Michael Reynolds; his sister Marilyn Kent; and his sister-in-law Annette Karl (Don).
He is survived by: his wife Marie E. Burkhardt; his children, Gretchen Reynolds (James) of Corfu, NY, Heidi Phillips (Scott) of Simpsonville, SC. and Eric Burkhardt (Kelly) of Chantilly, VA.; his grandchildren, Jessica, Theresa Reynolds, Valerie, Brandon Phillips, Olivia and Benjamin Burkhardt; his sister Dorothy Schaller (Ralph); and his brothers-in-law, Paul Meyer (Dolores) and James Meyer (Lorraine). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church Darien Center, NY or American Battlefield Trust, Washington, DC.
