He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Patterson and Evelyn Vincent Patterson; his uncle Milton; his aunt Elnora Jennings; his wife Claudine Jones Patterson; and his brothers, Loren, Stanley, Forest and John Patterson.
He is survived by: his close friend John Nesbit; his children, Cheryl Austin of Canisteo, Teresa Jenkins (Dudley) of Hornell, Rita O'Dell (Jeff) of Canisteo, Steven Patterson (Gaylee) of Dansville, Kevin Patterson (Ronda) of Canaseraga and Lori Murray (Robert) of Florida; and his siblings, Alvin Patterson (Vicky) of Maryland and Jean Gleason of Houghton. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 19 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
