He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Cotton and Mertie Williams Cotton; and his sons, Dean Cotton and Dale Cotton. He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Lawhead; his sons, Bruce T. Cotton (Jeannie) of Avon and Brian C. (Rebecca Dillabaugh) of Rochester; and his stepchildren, Mike Ives (Crystal) of Utah, Pam Ives of Buffalo and Elizabeth Moyer of Buffalo. He is also survived by several grandchildren and step grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Friendship Fire Department.
