Michael T. Hlavac Obituary
Michael T. Hlavac November 26, 1935 – January 28, 2022 Michael "Mike" or "Big Mike" Thomas Hlavac passed away at Saint Peter's Hospital , Albany, N.Y. on Friday January 28, 2022 at the age of 86.
Mike is predeceased by his brother Eddie, sisters Rosie and Catherine "Patty," and parents Nora and John.
Earlier in Mike's life he was known for his dry sense of humor and innate understanding of how things work – he could fix anything and build anything. As a teen, he built speed boats from scratch and made miniature models of homes for display in a Realtor's window, and later, with the help of his sons, went on to build the home he spent his retirement in. In his later years he was mostly interested in Egyptian pyramids and all things extraterrestrial.
Mike is a retired New York City Police officer and United States Army veteran.
Mike is survived by his wife Mae, his sons Mike Jr., and his wife Mary, Danny and his wife Barbara, Bill and his wife Melissa, and Jimmy, and daughter Kellie Loscher and her husband Andy. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael, Steven, Jennifer, Brian, DJ, Brandon, Brooke, Pascale and Ellery, and great grandchildren Mikey, Theo and Lylah.
Visitation will be at The W.C .Brady's Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, New York, 12051, on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. The United States Army will hold U.S. Army honors at the funeral home the same day. The wearing of face masks will be required to be worn at all times at the funeral home, regardless of vaccination status and for those unvaccinated, for everyone's protection.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Saint Mary's R. C. Church, 80 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, New York, 12051, at 9:00 A.M.
