He was predeceased by: his mother Barbara Sears Hale; and his son Matthew Hale. He is survived by: his father Robert Hale of Cortland; and his grandchildren, Kitty, Bella, Golf, Rachael Croft of Cortland and Gregory Hale (Kylee) of Unadilla.

Contributions in Joe's memory may be made to St. Anthony's Church.
