He is survived by: his close friend Clayton Bennett; his wife Ronna Carter; his children, Charles Carter Jr. and Mary Jo Shingler; his stepchildren, Ron, Shane McMillen, Connie and Alisha Gardner; his stepbrother Tommy Marino; and his niece Dana Gilman of Delaware. He is also survived by his several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
