Gaetano Mastropierro Obituary
Gaetano "Tom" Mastropierro, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on November 20, 2024 at Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He was 92 years old.
The son of the late Louis Mastropierro and Josephine (Bonagura) Mastropierro, Gaetano was born on March 7, 1932 in the Bronx, NY.
Gaetano was a retired Bank Manager for the Bank of New York in Cornwall, NY; ascending to the role of Assistant Treasurer. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He attended St. Thomas of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church in Cornwall on Hudson, NY and was committed to community service with proud involvement in the Cornwall Lion's Club, Cornwall Businessmen's Association, and the Cornwall Library Board of Trustees. He also served for several decades as Treasurer of the Canterbury Fire District in Cornwall, NY. A family statement reads: "Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including reading the daily newspaper to keep up on current news and watching Penn State and NY Jet football games on TV. One of his great pleasures was his long walks with his beloved Shih Tzu Charly who predeceased him. He had a kind and gentle heart and will be missed greatly.".
Gaetano is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Gene M. (Rose) Mastropierro at home; his son: Joseph T. Mastropierro of State College, PA; and his sister: Anne Saraceno of Yorktown Heights, NY. In addition to his parents, Gaetano was preceded in death by his sister: Margaret Sciortino.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Entombment with Military Honors, will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Middle Hope, NY.
