He was predeceased by: his brother James Friedel; and his sister-in-law Mary Friedel. He is survived by: his significant other Ann R. Garti; his daughters, Pamela Smith and Julie Hocevar; his grandchildren, James and Julie; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Frank and Olivia; and his sister Kay Clemens (William).
