With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sonja Starr Downing of Corning, New York, born in Macomb, Illinois, who passed away on April 28, 2023 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Stout and Fern Stout; her husband Richard Downing; and her brothers, Frank, Roland, Richard and Roger.
She is survived by: her sisters, Bonnie Stout, Karen Scheer (Michael) and Barbara Spencer (Steve); her nieces and nephews, Archie D. Davis, Kevin Davis, Vivian M. Pope, Deborah Mosley, Roger Bates, Jeremy Scheer, Benjamin Scheer, Mark and Zachary Spencer; her sister Margie Mapes (Harry); her children, Timothy Mapes (Kim), Michael Mapes (Lucero), Heather Smith (Desmond) and William Mapes (Allen); and her grandchildren, Theron, Conrad, Kayden, Nina, Kendahl and Boston.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Quackenbush Hill Baptist Church.
