He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Sanfratello and Theresa Sanfratello; and his brother Frank. He is survived by: his wife Audrey; his sons, Michael and Samuel; his nieces and nephews, Albert Knapp, Ben Sanfratello, Laurine Rogers (Sanfratello) and Sarra Passmore (Sanfratello); and his brothers, Anthony and Daniel.

Sam served on several Boards, including Corning-Painted Post Education Foundation, the Committee for BOCES Merger, and Spencer Crest Nature Center.
