He was predeceased by: his father Floyd Hakes; and his brother Andy Hakes. He is survived by: his mother Eleanor Hakes; his son Duane Hakes (Heather); his siblings, Wendy Youmans (Roger), Ray Hakes (Marge) and Ted Hakes (Trish); his grandchildren, Hunter Hakes (Tamarakye), Austin Rosell (Erin) and Diane Hakes; his great grandchild Addelyn Rosell; and his close friend Lorena Wilson.
