He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Black, (Collins) and Jack Black, Sr.; his parents-in-law, Eleanor (Mullen) and Adrian Downing, Sr.; his brother Maynard Black; and his sons-in-law, Mark Koschik and Steven Hamilton.

He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Black; his children, Nancy Koschik, Joseph Black (Shauna), Shawn Black (Tammy), Jonathan Black (Christine) and Rebecca Hamilton; his siblings, Patricia Cure (Gillis), Martin Black (Connie), Janice Black, Mary Perry (Mark), Christopher Black (Rita), Susan Lubold (Alan), Rebecca Caponi (Gene), Monica Black, Deborah Kay Piper, Joan Palinkas, Darlene Foster (Kevin) and Tammy Tillman (Leon); and his grandchildren, Ryan, Brady, Lauren, Anthony, Jakob, Sydney, Eli, Bryce, Theo, Hope, Charlie, Andrew, Alex and Aaron. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
