He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Abbey and Dorothy Palmer; and his siblings, Edwin Abbey, Helen Thiele, Betty Anthony and Rose Ann "Rosie" Fasick.
He is survived by: his son Jeffrey Barnes; his close friend Jamie Whitson; and his granddaughters, Jessica Barnes, Catherine Daily and Elizabeth Gaeta. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
