He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Karr Hess and Colleen Hess (Little); his siblings, Carol Sherwood (Bob), Norman Hess (Terry) and Leroy Hess; his wife Margie (Van Atta); his sons, David Hess (Colleen) of Corning, NY and Gary Hess of Elmira, NY; his grandchildren, Scott Hess (Kerri) of Corning, NY, Marty Hess of Durham, NC and Sarah Hess of Corning, NY; his brother Douglas Hess of Elmira, NY; and his siblings-in-law, Bonna Hess of Millerton, PA, Ronald Van Atta of Oakland, CA and Dale Van Atta (Rose) of Corning, NY. He was also cherished by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Maple Grove Cemetery (715 W Broad St, Horseheads, NY 14845). A celebration of life was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Caton Fire Hall (1118 Caton Rd, Corning, NY 14830).
