He was predeceased by: his parents, Hattie Hooey and Vern Hooey; and his siblings, Robert V. Hooey (Ruth Ann) and Bonnie Hudson (James). He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Cowley Hooey; his children, Kimberlee Miale (Armand) and Kevin Hooey; and his grandchildren, Megan, Kaitlin Miale, Kurtis and Karter Hooey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
