Joseph J. Mortellaro Obituary
We are sad to announce that on December 27, 2024, at the age of 88, Joseph J. Mortellaro of Corfu, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ignazio Mortellaro and Carmella Mortellaro (Dorsey); his wife Sandra Tiede Mortellaro; his siblings, Mary Cassaro (Tony), Jenny Stellar, Casper Mortellaro (Elaine), Frank Mortellaro (Arlene), Ross VanValkenburg (Rose), Anthony Mortellaro and Carmella "Millie" McVay (Alfred, Sr.); and his niece Cathy McVay Hein.
He is survived by: his brother Richard Mortellaro, Sr. (Kathleen); his sister-in-law Shirley Mortellaro; and his nieces and nephews, Richard Mortellaro, Jr., Ann Marie Marasciulo (Rich), Tina Curtis (David), Susan Parker (Chris), Jeannie Mazurowski (John), Mark McVay (Kelly), Patty Stewart, Franny Cassaro, Bruce Cassaro, David Cassaro (Beth), David Stellar, Rodney Stellar, Gary VanValkenburg, Donna Nelson (Andy Rogers), Dennis Jay, David Mortellaro (Beth), Danny Mortellaro, Todd Mortellaro, Scott Mortellaro, Timmy Mortellaro (Jamie), Russell Mortellaro (Teri) and Larry (Nina).
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Batavia Country Club (7909 Byron Rd, Byron, NY 14422).
Known as "Mr. Bowling" throughout the Genesee Region for his numerous accomplishments on the lanes and his contributions to the sport over seven decades, Joe was a member of the inaugural Batavia Bowling Association Hall of Fame Class of 1973 in the Bowling Achievement category.
