He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Gaines and Ida Gaines (Patterson); and his siblings, Martin, Claude, Ralph, Earl Gaines, Cecil, Fred, Clifford Burke, Anna Harper, Mary Towne, Doris Nevills, Blanche Hammill, Dorothy Bloss, Ilene Giovo, Merline Porter, Agnes Castleman, Loraine Ploof, Leona Duffy and Elizabeth Oatman.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Booth; his grandchildren, Brandon Scott, Nathan Freeman, Madison Freeman, Gavin and Collin Gaines of Watertown; his brother Kenneth; his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Gaines of Copenhagen and Sharon Boni of Carthage; his nephews, Mark Gaines of Copenhagen and Brian Gaines; and his brother-in-law Thomas Boni. He is also survived by ses his wife of 54 years, he is survived by a son, two daughters and five grandchildren.
