He was predeceased by: his siblings, Ruth Bailey and Otis Proper. He is survived by: his parents, Myron Proper and Olia Proper (Pectal); his spouse Marjorie E. Proper (Decker); his children, Paul J. Proper Jr (Theresa), Rosemarie McEnroe (Jerome) and David Proper (Patricia); his grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy, Klynt, Nicholas, Dylan, Megan, Bryan and Evan; and his great grandchildren, Kailey, Aubrey, Tristan, Abby, Keegan, Brady, Noah, Turner and Lydia.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to the West Copake Reformed Church, 2688 County Route 7, Copake, New York.
