He was predeceased by: his parents, George Van Zandt and Blanche Wawanolette-Van Zandt; his siblings, Jack Van Zandt and Bernice Van Zandt; and his grandchildren, Jessica Van Zandt and Thomas "Tommy" Cox.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Van Zandt; his children, Robert F. Van Zandt, Jr. (Lisa), Robin Van Zandt and Michele Rubino (Joseph); his grandchildren, Cailin Makar, Leah Shewmaker, John Morgan Van Zandt, Erin Van Zandt and Anthony Rubino; and his great grandchildren, Mila Makar, Tristan Shewmaker and Landon Shewmaker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
