He was predeceased by: his parents, William Welch and Doris Rate Welch; and his sisters, Mary Ellen Dommer and Linda Maylath. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Mayo; his children, Richard W. Welch and Tricia L. VanDenburgh; his grandsons, Noah A. VanDenburgh and Kristopher A. VanDenburgh; his aunt Joan Rate; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Mayo and Colleen Mayo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
