He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Cherniak and Pelahia Pawelchak Cherniak; his wife June A. Favreau Cherniak; his daughter Michele Cherniak; his grandson Theodore Cherniak; and his sister Nadja Stroyen.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen P. Cherniak (Jeanne) of Bainbridge and Daniele J. Cherniak of Cohoes; and his grandson Xavier Cherniak. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
