He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Callanan and Katherine Fitzpatrick Callanan; his son Robert J. Callanan II; and his brothers, John E. Callanan (Mary), Walter Callanan (Veronica), William and Donald Callanan.
He is survived by: his wife Genevieve Zandri Callanan; his daughter Cindy Surprenant (Wilfred) of Cohoes; his grandchildren, Brian Surprenant (Andrea) and Megan Sutherland (Derek); his great grandchildren, Brian Jr., Victoria, Braden, Maria, Killian and Kaiden; and his brothers, Raymond Callanan (late Connie) and David Callanan (Judy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
