With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joel R. Shaffer of Cohocton, New York, born in Berwick, Pennsylvania, who passed away on December 7, 2021 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Shaffer and Kathryn Shaffer (Ridall); his brother Curtiss Shaffer; his siblings-in-law, Todd Lindsey, Joanne Shaffer and Barb Shaffer; and his parents-in-law, John and Emma Lindsey.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy Shaffer; his sons, Brian Shaffer, David Shaffer (Meg) of Cohocton and Kevin Shaffer; his stepgrandchildren, Edan and Dane Lehmann; his siblings, Fred Shaffer, Dennis Shaffer and Anne Lucey (John); his aunts, Melva George and Alberta Ridall; and his siblings-in-law, David Lindsey and Clara Shaffer.
