She was predeceased by: her parents, George Sluyter and Ruth Sluyter (Canfield); her grandson Benjamin Derr; her son-in-law Dennis Myers; and her sisters, Katherine Cadieux of Plattsburgh and Ida Nye of Plattsburgh.

She is survived by: her husband David Stanley Elwood; her daughters, Betsy Elwood of Rotterdam, Andrea Myers of Carlisle and Heather O'Neil (Jim) of Newburgh; her granddaughter Shannon Derr of Central Bridge; her siblings, Rodney Sluyter (Barb) of Richfield Springs and Diane Wells of Laconia, NH; and her stepsister Joanne Deduke of Plattsburgh.
