He is survived by: his wife Margaret Malaspina; his children, Daniel Piening (Lillian) of Elmwood Park, NJ, Rebecca Yager (Kevin) of Denton, TX, Madeline Deats (Tim) of Howes Caves, NY, Marie Fosmire of Howes Cave, NY and Christian Piening of Cobleskill, NY.; and his siblings, Almuth Kretz of Ghent, NY, Renate Pank of Chatham, NY, Mareike Freeman of Fultonville, NY and Michael Piening of Kemptville, ON. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
