He was predeceased by: his parents, Stuart Schaller and Anna Kreimeyer Schaller; and his son Richard Schaller Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Duffy; his children, Michele Cotter (Jack), Jeffrey (Denise) and Barbara Kitchen (Daniel); his grandchildren, Kara Brown (Daniel), Nicole Cotter, Jason Cotter (Heather), Jody Myers (Kelly), Holly DeVoy (Christopher), Daniel Kitchen (Lindsey), Haley Kitchen and Richard Schaller, Jr.; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Katelyn Brown, Michael Peppinelli, Caiden Roosenberg, Brysen Hitchcock, Gabriel, Jaxson, Melody Myers and Josephine Kitchen; and his sister Joan Ward (Bill). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
