He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Olmstead and Mary Olmstead (Bobeck); and his brothers, Ralph Olmstead (Mona) and Rudy Olmstead. He is survived by: his wife Dawn Hoke; his son Kevin; his daughter-in-law Marcia Olmstead of Clinton; his grandchildren, Daniel Olmstead (Erika Klein) of Fort Worth, TX, Cortney Olmstead and Zachary Stachelski of Manhattan, KS; his brother Stewart; his sister-in-law Sue Olmstead; his sisters, Kathleen "Suzie" (Peter Hughes), Joanne (Dick Billings) and Donna (Jim Dowd); his sister-in-law Pam Olmstead (Rudy); and also, Robin Olmstead, Kathy Stachelski of Utica, Robert, Donna Smith, Dick and Roxanne Stanek. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.
