He was predeceased by: his son Christopher G. Stern; and his siblings, Thomas Stern and Marguerite Huysman. He is survived by: his wife Joanne; his children, Anne M. Marleau of Prospect, NY and Terrence M. Stern of Mohawk, NY; his daughter-in-law Nora Stern; his stepdaughter Periann Burgamy of Clinton; his grandchildren, Brittany Brealt (Danny), Lauren, Christopher and Sean Marleau; and his siblings, John Stern (Dolores) and Mary Price.
