He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Rector and Margaret Rector; his brother Alfred Thomas Rector; and his former wife Karen Miller Rector. He is survived by: his wife Patty; his sons, Lance Rector (Angela) and Thomas Rector (Patty); his stepchildren, Monique Barreras, Paul Barreras and Jaimey Barreras; and his brother John Rector (Robin). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the House of John in Robert's memory.
