He was predeceased by: his son Mark LaPorte (Sarah); and his brother-in-law Matthew Mellon (Susan). He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty"; his daughter Christine Knab (Kevin); his siblings, David, Dawn Jones (Steve) and Valerie LaPorte-Burns (David); and his siblings-in-law, Owen Mellon (Janet), Frederick Mellon (Linda) and Nancy Weiler. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
