He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. William Kotwas and Emily Pzczolkowski; and his sister Gwendolyn Nicosia. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Kotwas (Kay); his daughter Kristin Carpenter; and his brothers, William Kotwas of Augusta, GA and Richard Kotwas of West Barnstable, MA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
