She was predeceased by: her parents, Gilson Gardner and Genevieve Gardner (Baker); her former husband Joseph L. Swaites; and her husband James E. Shanahan. She is survived by: her children, Lori Morgan (John) and Joe Swaites (Loren) of Chittenango; her stepsons, Tim Shanahan (Joan) of Virginia and Jim Shanahan (Kathy) of Cazenovia; her grandchildren, Julia Berchou (Kevin), Tim Shanahan (Amanda), Karly, JJ Shanahan, Courtney Michlovitch (Ryan), Amanda, Riley and Brayden Ellis; her great grandchildren, Meredith, Mallory Berchou and Carson Michlovitch; her siblings, Walter Gardner (Debbie), Carol Crandall (Bill) and Sue Gingeleski (Randy); her cousin Janet McConnell (Tom); and her grandmother Cleo. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
