He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Payne Kern, Jr. and Joan Mary Kern. He is survived by: his brother Robert III (Karen); his nephews, Robert IV and Steven; his brother William (Kathleen); his nephew Christopher (Amanda); his sister Joan; and his nephew Robert Bontemps Jr. (Meri).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National ASPCA.
