He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Schaefer and Ilse Schaefer. He is survived by: his wife Patt of Chazy Lake, NY; his daughters, Sherie Schaefer of Wilbraham, MA, Chazy Lake, Sandra Zeiler of Kilmarnock, VA and Susan Russell of Telluride, CO; and his grandchildren, John O'Toole III, Catherine Cammaroto, Katerina Zeiler and David Zeiler, Jr..
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 4th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Joseph's Church (179 Smith St, Dannemora, NY 12929). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, September 4th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood (111 Old Country Rd, Westbury, NY 11590).
