He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Akin and Mary Plass; his wife Ann (Rossman); his son William E. Akin Jr.; and his siblings, Shirley Pulver, Joan Decker and Edward Akin.
He is survived by: his significant other Carole Ganson; his daughter Bonnie Akin-Wheeler; his grandchildren, William Akin III (Jennifer Akin) and Ashley Akin; his daughter-in-law Rita Akin (Jack McCagg); his great grandchildren, William Akin IV, Wesley, Jacob Akin and Nicholas Butta Jr.; his siblings, Helen Brand, Walter Akin and Frederick Akin; his children, Chuck Ganson (Tara), Debbie Brosen (John) and Donna Keeler (Patrick); his grandchildren, Cody, Calob, Connor Ganson, Dillon, Travis Keeler, Andy and Dan Reutzel; and his great grandchild Ethan Reutzel. He is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home (25 Railroad Ave, Chatham, NY 12037).
