He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn; and his siblings, Geraldine and Edward. He is survived by: his friend Doug; his sister Adele Hesson of Buena Park; and his children, Stephen Richard Burgess (Gayle) of Knox, Elizabeth Jane Galanter (Elliot), John Douglas Burgess (Vicki) of Canaan and David Lincoln Burgess (Jennifer Van Amburgh) of Old Chatham. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
