He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Smith and Lilley Smith; and his siblings, Frank, Harold, Ralph, Glenny and Mabel.
He is survived by: his sister Gertrude Merriam; his wife Phyllis Ann Wilder Smith; his children, Thomas Smith (Emily), David Smith (Shelly), James Smith (Irene) and Judy Smith Battaglia (Mike Battaglia); and his grandchildren, Jennifer Smith McGillicuddy, Sean, David A. Smith, Kirsten, Jimmy Smith, Amanda, Brian Smith, Trisha, Holly Smith Roberts, Nathan, Jeremy Smith, Stacy, Shannon Smith, Matthew Smith, Bree, Christopher Battaglia, Lauren Kademian, Ryan and Danielle Battaglia.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Meals on Wheels or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
